How does it work when a label accounts a mixtape, does it count for the employees who promote an album, or does it account more for the artist to get a better release date in the future? Is it an asset or expense or overhead cost?

It’s an asset, because the label owns the product and it may increase in value over time.
Before, the label would have nothing to do with the mixtape.
