What beats does Nas sound best on?

Nas is scheduled to release another album this year.

The leaks I’ve heard from the album seem to be around 100 BPM, which is kind of fast.

It’s been a while since he’s has had a hit single, so I was just wondering what BPM Nas sounded best on. BPM can be important – in some cases just a slight difference of 5 BPM can define what genre a song is.

Nas’ highest selling single is Street Dreams. This was released in 1996.

Nas’ other biggest records include:

  • Nas Is Like: 94 BPM
  • Got Yourself A Gun: 95 BPM
  • Made You Look: 95 BPM
  • I Can: 95 BPM

From a commercial standpoint, it would be best for Nas to use beats between 91 to 95 BPM.

The BPM on It Was Written (Nas’ highest selling solo album):

  • the message – 89
    street dreams – 91
    i gave you power – 85
    watch dem n*ggas – 86
take it in blood – 91
    nas is coming – 91
    affirmative action – 87
    the set up – 96
    black girl lost – 90
    suspect – 89
    shootouts – 87
    live n*gga rap – 94
    if i ruled the world – 94

The BPM on Untitled (Nas lowest selling solo album):

  • queens get the money – 86
you cant stop us now – 90
    breathe – 95
make the world go round – 90
    hero – 95
    america – 100
    sly fox – 89
    testify – 71
    n*gger – 78
    untitled – 113
    fried chicken – 94
    project roach – 82
    y’all my niggas – 94
    were not alone – 103
    black president – 107

  1. I think Nas can rap and adjust to any tempo from the 80s – high 90s..

Nas doesn’t sound great over live instrumentation IMO

Nas sounds great over boom bap and soul samples.
