Why I think it’s important to encourage creativity

Any regular readers of the blog will know that I sometimes like to talk about technology.

I do that because I feel creativity must be encouraged, in order for us to make advances in technology and engineering.

We can apply arts with other fields such as maths and science, to create innovative products that can help improve life in the future.

Music is important because it can inspire people to create and think of ways to improve their surroundings.  We all see things differently, which can lead to different approaches and interpretations of how something is supposed to look, sound, feel etc. This is a good thing, in my opinion.

So, art is important not just as a creative medium but as it also relates to architecture, contsruction, design and so forth.

Yep. People for get the artistic and creative element that goes into successful technology. Whether that’s Steve Jobs, who put emphasis on design for his Apple products which helped make them extremely attractive to customers, or a software developer which while it is largely technical, also has an artistic aspect to it.

A good book that relates to this is A Whole New Mind, by Daniel H. Pink. It isn’t enough to have great logical skills if you want to go far in life, you also have to be able to communicate and be creative as well.
